  • Overview

    Velvert® is a natural anti-microbial barrier dressing consisting of a polymeric sponge loaded with patented natural antimicrobial formulations. All the components of the formulation work in a synergistic manner to speed up the healing process by effectively killing of the microbes (99.9999%). Velvert® is found to be effective even against the Superbugs in vitro.

    • Multi-drug resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii
    • Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)
    • New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-1 (NDM-1)
    • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
    • Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE)
    • Pseudomonas
    • The effectiveness against superbugs is proved in the Time Kill Assay, where the population of microorganisms is 99.9999% reduced within 30 minutes in vitro.
    • Highly porous in nature with a capacity to absorb exudates up to 20 times of its own weight and also aids in maintaining a moist wound environment.
    • Biocompatible and non-toxic to human tissue.
    • Soft and flexible, making it highly conformable to deep and irregular wounds.
  • Action
    • The active formulation of VELVERT® kills microbes by different ways, for example by interacting with cell membrane, binding with metalloproteinase, inhibition in protein synthesis and DNA replication etc. The dressing kills the microbes and enhance the wound healing by increasing cell migration.
    • VELVERT® promotes angiogenesis, controls infection, promotes proliferation and migration of the cells.
    • All the components of VELVERT® work synergistically for faster wound healing with enhanced bioavailability.

  • Application Method
    • Step 1: Step 1: Open Dressing - Extract the sterile dressing from the primary packing.
    • Sep 2: Moisten with sterile water or saline. Do not use excessive quantities as the water present in the dressing cannot be removed, it will also washout the drug present in the dressing.
    • STEP 3: Ensure that the side opposite to the marked side of moist dressing is applied on the wound, i.e., the marked side faces upwards after the application and cover with a secondary dressing
    • STEP 4: Apply Velvert® on wound site making sure no part of the wound is left exposed. You may cut Velvert to ensure it covers the wound properly.
    • STEP 5: Apply a sterile secondary dressing on top of Velvert® to ensure that it stays in place during the course of application.

    The dressing may need to be changed every 4th day.
