Overview

Silvel™ is an antimicrobial barrier dressing coated with nanocrystalline silver. It has an anti-inflammatory effect as well as neovascularization effect. Sustained release of silver at wound site is required for antimicrobial effect & provides favorable environment to wound & to less disruption to the newly formed epithelium.

It kills bacteria within the matrix, and also increases susceptibility of bacteria to antibiotics & kills bacteria by damaging cell wall, respiratory enzymes etc. It is effective against yeast, fungi, viruses, MRSA & VRSA & maintain adequate antibacterial concentrations with good residual activity, keeping levels elevated over longer period of time.
Properties
- Three layered dressing where wound contact layer is made of 100% cotton, middle layer is made of viscose and outer layer is made of polyethylene net
- Provides long lasting anti-microbial barrier (approx. 5 days)
- Effective against resistance bacteria like MRSA / VRE / Pseudomonas
- Maintains moist wound enviroment optimal for fast healing
- Silvel needs to be moistened only once prior to use, repeated moistening is not required
