Our Heart is a muscular organ which pumps the blood to the other parts of the body. The Heart also requires the blood supply to function properly. Coronary artery disease develops when the blood vessel supplying blood to the heart “coronary artery” gets narrowed or a blockage occurs in it. This reduces the blood flow to the heart due to which the heart gets deprived of the oxygen and the essential nutrients for its working.

A Stroke is defined as an abrupt death of brain cells. This is caused by the blockage of blood vessels which supply blood, oxygen, and nutrients to the brain. Because of this interrupted blood supply, the brain cells begin to die.

A stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the US. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), African-Americans are at a much higher risk of death from stroke.

What is Tuberculosis and how it can be treated?

Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It mainly affects the lungs but other organs may also be involved.

TB is a contagious airborne disease. The germs spread through the air between the person with active Tb and everyone else, even if the TB positive person coughs, laughs, sneezes, or even talks to close. When a person breathes in TB bacteria, the bacteria settle in his/her lungs and multiply. The disease develops anywhere from a couple of days to a week after the infection is contracted.
